Happy 3rd Birthday, Andrew!

P9270065

Happy Birthday, Indiana Jones!  His current love affairs are with Cars, Star Wars and Indiana Jones, and this boy went all out this year.  He even picked out an Indiana Jones cake!  To say it was a hit is putting it mildly.  Of course we spoiled him silly with too many presents and lots of fun, but it was the last "little" birthday in this house.  We couldn't just let it slide, that's for sure.  And I know that everyone thinks the Indiana Jones whip he got for a gift from mom and dad was a bit violent and inappropriate, but we just didn't care!  This kid has been flinging around a shoe lace for months now as his whip, and the plastic end on that sucker just plain HURT when he got you just right (accidentally, of course!).  So when we found the cloth whip with sound effects built into the handle, well, we jumped right on that one!  And he's been really good about not hitting anyone with it.  He just loves to wave it in the air and sing the them song!  And really, this world is way too G-rated in a lot of ways.  Little boys used to have toy six-shooters, tanks, and slingshots.  Even Ralphie got his Red Rider, for pete's sake!  So a cloth whip?  I've reconciled myself with it a long time ago!

We're just getting started, Andrew.  There are so many adventures to come!  And we're just thrilled to have you lead the way....  we love you so much!  Happy Birthday!

Picture Day and Some Blackmail for the Teen Years...

Everyone went to school today decked out for pictures.  Even Andrew, who isn't technically in school yet!  They insisted on wearing the sweaters that I knit for them.  Thank goodness, because that is what I worked my fingers to the bone on them for!

P9260056 Andrew,

the gender confused Prince Phillip who is raiding the closet of his girlfriend, Sleeping Beauty!  I am definitely saving this photo for future blackmail purposes!  Of course, this is the same boy who runs around in any princess dress left unattended while yelling "Lightening Queen!  Lightening Queen!  My Woody!" at the top of his lungs.   Do you think he's bought into the Disney cult at all?  Between  the Cars movie and Toy Story, he's always yelling one of those phrases around here.  But oh, the memories it makes!

I did get Annika to model her skirt today (only 1 hour to make this one!) but Aelin was too camera shy....  but you get the idea.  Ain't she cute?!

Recycled Jeans Make A Fashion Statement

We've been a little busy around here, so it's been a while since I've posted.  (Obviously - did I really need to type that?)  Since I've been back home full time, I've been doing a TON of knitting, and haven't really done much sewing other than a set of pillowcases for Andrew and one purse.  Andrew will be getting his pillowcases on Sunday when he turns 3.  THREE!!!  My goodness, where does time go?  Anyway, today I got a chance to sew a little.  The girls each had a pair of jeans that still fit in the waist, but were way too short for them.  So I decided to be a little crafty and make some modifications!

in a matter of about 2 hours.  I didn't have a pattern so it took me a while to figure it out as I went.  This skirt is Aelin's.  Of course I used a pink fabric!  Tomorrow I'll be doing the same in a purple version for Annika from this:

Once I've finished, I'll try to get them to model them for a photo!  This is a really fun project, and I foresee lots of these skirts on all of the girls from now on!  But right now I have to meet the school bus and get Attie.  I'm hoping to have lots of photos, projects, and birthday news to post after the weekend.  With such wonderful summer weather sticking around, there should be plenty to blog about.  I just need to take time out from the sunshine to get to the computer!  Enjoy your weekend everyone!
